The Circle Prayer Rally: Testifying to Life in the Midwest

At Coalition Life prayer is the driving force of our mission. It’s what keeps us going when things are tough and what we turn to in times of gratitude!

Our Circle Prayer Rallies are an opportunity for the community to join us in this prayerful attitude and intercede for an end to abortion and for all mothers in unexpected pregnancies to find the beauty of the life they carry.

Our prayer rally this past March 7th, was a blessed experience! There were many supporters from the local communities in Missouri and Illinois who joined us in prayer for an end to abortion amidst sunshine and snow!

St. Louis, MO.

In St. Louis, we rallied outside the Planned Parenthood on Forest Park Avenue where many supporters joined us in prayer and together became a witness to life.

Fr. Rob Lawson, delivered a speech reminding us that all inside and outside the womb is sacred, renewing our efforts to continue fighting for the most vulnerable.

Cameron McCarty, Director of Marketing & Community Engagement at Coalition Life, shared a story of highlighting the work sidewalk counselors do on a day-by-day basis:

A couple of years ago, Leanne, a sidewalk counselor for Coalition Life, spoke to a man who had dropped off his sister at a Planned Parenthood. He didn’t know Planned Parenthood performed abortions. Once the man became aware of this, he immediately went back for his sister and got her out! Then Leanne directed them over to the mobile medical unit in the neighboring parking lot to receive REAL, life affirming care for her child in the womb!

St. Louis’ prayer rally inspired the community to come together and continue showing up for life!

Carbondale, IL.

The Carbondale prayer rally revealed the importance of Ultrasounds in the pro-life movement!

Pastors Jared and Kimberly Brooks shared a beautiful testimony about how prayer can literally protect an unborn child from abortion by being seen by an ultrasound scan — saving the child’s life.

Senator Terri Bryant highlighted the fact that Planned Parenthood and other abortion facilities intentionally withhold ultrasound information from pregnant mothers, misleading them so that they can perform more abortions. These facilities know that when women see their child in an ultrasound, they steer away from abortion.

Lastly, Jacquelyn Olimpio and Monique Becnel, sidewalk counselors with Coalition Life, shared a sidewalk testimony that urged the community to get involved. They emphasized how ultrasound information is direly needed at the entrances to these abortion facilities.

Flossmoor, IL.

At a whopping 30 degrees, the Flossmoor rally showed that nothing, not even the weather can freeze our dedication to life!

This rally featured testimonies from pro-life advocates on the front lines of the movement to end abortion.

Etta Werner, a Coalition Life sidewalk counselor, shared her experiences of the sidewalk and the importance of being present for women looking for abortions and leading them to life.

Pro-Life missionary, Savannah Tucker, highlighted the importance of having conversations about abortion. She emphasized how conversations not only change lives but also save lives!

Tom Olp from the Thomas More Society, shared about the importance of laws in the fight against abortion. He shared how the pro-abortion laws are attacking pro-life advocates, such as Carbondale’s Bubble Zone Law and the Supreme Court’s refusal to hear the case. He encouraged the attendees that we will not remain silent, but will continue to fight against this injustice and censoring of Free Speech on the sidewalks.

John Ryan, the site manager for our Flossmoor sidewalk team, shared updates from Illinois’ state senate and house hearings on pro-life and pro-abortion laws.

He mentioned that in a collaboration with Illinois Right to Life Action to stand against a hearing to introduce an assisted suicide bill in the state of Illinois, celebrating how the state house decided to drop with this bill!

He encouraged attendees to contact their state legislators to pause further pro-abortion/ pro-death laws from advancing in the state.

Fairview Heights, IL.

Finally, the prayer rally in Fairview Heights highlighted the hope found in choosing life and the testimonies shared by the speakers were very moving.

Pastor Alan Beuster, shared how we need to place our trust in God, who is the living hope, not in false hopes like those offered by Planned Parenthood.

Scott Varian, one of the sidewalk counselors from Coalition Life, about how his persistence in calling out to a grieving young father, waiting on the steps of an abortion facility, helped the father and the mother of his preborn child to leave the facility and find life-affirming alternatives.

We also heard Kristi Hofferber, CEO of A Beacon of Light Pregnancy Help Center and how she learned she came from rape and incest and has now dedicated her life to helping other women in similar situations of anguish find hope and healing to choose life like her mother did.

Thanks to all who joined us and shared their testimony to life through their presence.
