PRO-LIFE TOUR: STOP #13

On this stop, Brian talks with David Bereit about the current pro-life strategies seen across today’s abortion landscape. We also get to hear about the emphasis needed on the battle to protect embryos endangered by the IVF industry.

In Virginia, the landscape of abortion legislation is minimal and fraught with challenges. Restrictions on later-term abortions and coerced abortions are present but limited, leaving much to be desired in protecting life. The recent shift from federal to state-level focus has made local advocacy more critical than ever. States like Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama have made significant strides in prohibiting and restricting abortions, while states like California, New Mexico, Oregon, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Illinois have seen a rise in abortions due to the stripping of protective laws. The increase in the use of abortion pills, now accounting for over 63% of abortions nationally, has raised concerns due to the lack of safety regulations.

The pro-life movement has responded with heightened efforts, particularly through pregnancy centers and maternity ministries, which have become vital in offering support to women facing unexpected pregnancies. These centers provide essential services, ensuring that women receive the care and support they need to choose life for their children. The commitment of pro-life organizations like Coalition Life is paramount, offering hope and a vision for the future by engaging in grassroots efforts and fostering collaboration. Leaders within the movement are encouraged to take incremental steps, driven by faith and the desire to protect the unborn, ultimately aiming to create a culture that values and defends life from conception to natural death.
