Philadelphia: Bringing Coalition Life’s St. Louis Method to a Tough Sidewalk
Last summer my family of nine (9) and I went on an intense 34-day Pro-Life Tour from St. Louis to Florida and up the eastern seaboard. Along the way, we stopped in Philadelphia, home to Mark Houck, who was thrust into the national spotlight after the FBI raided his house as his children looked on.
One thing we saw in Philly was just how tough sidewalk counseling is there.
Protestors swarm the sidewalks with shouts and signs, blocking women from hearing life-saving truth. The atmosphere is downright hostile.
After we returned from the tour, we knew we had to send a team to help out.
After months of planning, our Coalition Life team finished a week-long, intense deep dive with those on the ground. We worked the sidewalks in front of two abortion facilities and came up with several new strategies, and dramatically increased the number of stops and conversations happening, resulting in two turnarounds that week.
With 80 new people trained in sidewalk counseling in Philadelphia, we’re excited to see what fruit will come from our short time there. Philadelphia was a powerful example of what can happen when you bring the expertise and proven methods pioneered by Coalition Life into a community with dedicated and faithful volunteers.
Coalition Life is committed to expanding our reach city by city, heart by heart. But we can’t do it without you.

Together, we can make sure that no woman approaches an abortion facility without first meeting an effective advocate who loves and cares for her.
